Many times home health care agencies such as Coastal Care work in partnership with a family attorney who is the custodian of the client’s estate and general welfare. It might be interesting to note that these family attorneys such as Harry Christensen, manage far more than monetary assets. “We deal with all family issues, providing trusts for children, power of attorney, and counseling on how to best preserve and manage what people have worked their entire lives to attain,” says Christensen, who has been a practicing attorney for many years in Marblehead. Many clients see Christensen as part of their extended family, as he is often entrusted with helping to coordinate arrangements for the personal care and safety of his clients. He also offers his services at any time they are needed. When some of Christensen’s elderly clients find it more difficult to stay at home safely, he partners with Coastal Care’s nursing staff to meet with the client in the home to determine if home care is appropriate and can be provided in a safe manner. “I have been working with Coastal Care for eight years, and exclusively with them, as I have a fiduciary responsibility to provide my clients with the most competent, safe, reliable and trustworthy healthcare services available,” he says. With a phone call to Coastal Care, a clinical case manager then provides Christensen with a complete home care assessment of the client at no charge to the client, along with an approximate cost of the services that may be needed.
